Penny the Octopus girl!
I have been reading Maya Kern's web comic Monster Pop, and it’s spurred me to create this small water color painting. She has been a really enjoyable project for me, I even devised a
little background story for her (I know it’s kinda superfluous, but I was having too much fun to stop at just an image… blame Miss Maya for ensnaring my imagination in her comic). I think I’ll make some more outfits for her later too. ♥
Name: Penelope Ingenbein
Age/Birth Day: 17 / May 25
Height: 5’4”- 5’9” (it varies, for obvious reasons)
School: Small village School I haven’t figured out yet —-> Unity University
Family: Aunt, grand parents, 8 siblings, dad.
Penny is a very soft spoken young lady and a pacifist, very easily excited but doesn’t involve herself with the business of others lightly. When she does speak she is direct and articulate and politely stands her ground. She has an intense love for books, writing and storytelling, and hopes to become a successful writer. She comes from a small island off the coast of Norway, where she and her 5 sisters and 3 brothers and grand parents all lived together. Her father is human (a marine biology professor for NTNU) living in Tyholt, but he is very loving and visits them regularly. Their mother and maternal grandmother died in an anti-monster incident four and a half years ago. Since the loss of his wife, Penny’s father has become heavily protective of his children and is against Penny’s decision to leave home. But because relations between monsters and humans is shaky in Europe, both his marriage and guardianship is not legally recognized, so he has no legal power to stop Penny from attending Unity University. She is currently living with her human aunt in Monstra City where they run a small book store. She still doesn’t understand all of the culture, but she is eager to learn and determined to make her family proud.
